Venus. Coloured radar map of the eastern hemisphere of Venus. The map was created using data gathered by the Magellan radar-mapping spacecraft in 1990-94. The colours indicate the elevation of the surface relative to the mean planetary radius (6041 km). Blue colours denote land below the mean radius; land above the mean radius is coloured green, brown, pink and white (highest). The equatorial zone is dominated by the upland 'continent' called Aphrodite Terra. To the north are the lowlands of Niobe Planitia, to the south is Aino Planitia.
